Want to get serious? Our pocket digs give collectors exclusive access to freshly exposed quartz pockets right in the main pit. Guided by Blake or Tommy, you’ll work one on one (or with your small group) to extract high-quality points and clusters straight from the source. Experience the thrill of being the first person to ever touch a crystal that has been waiting on you for 250 million years!
Each pocket dig is limited to a single group of 1–5 people per day, so you’ll never be fighting the crowds. We work the day prior to your dig to ensure a fresh pocket is exposed, then hand you the tools you need—hammers, chisels, pry bars—to carefully bust the rock and reveal the crystals within. It’s the ultimate hands-on experience for collectors who want something beyond the tailing piles and are willing to work for it.
Pocket digs are by appointment only, and reservations must be made through our website at least one week in advance. This helps us manage group size and ensures that every visitor has the space and support they need to enjoy the experience.
The mine is conveniently located just 5 to 10 minutes from local restaurants, grocery stores, and hardware shops—so it’s easy to grab food, supplies, or ice during your visit. While the road in is gravel, 4-wheel drive is not necessary. Regular passenger vehicles can access the site without issue.
Hand tools only are permitted. You're welcome to bring your own gear, but we also offer tool rentals, shade umbrellas, and pop-up gazebos on-site for those who want a little extra comfort while they dig. We strongly recommend bringing plenty of water, sunscreen, and weather-appropriate clothing.

** Recommended tools/gear: 3-4lb mini sledgehammer, assorted chisels, small screwdrivers, pry bar, newspaper to wrap your finds.
** Crystals are a guarantee at the pocket dig level and higher, but they may not meet your expectations —you are paying for our crews' time and the experience of finding crystals. If the value of crystals does not meet or exceed the cost of the dig, you will receive store credit towards our inventory.
** We do not have a working bathroom, only an outhouse — bathrooms are in the works.
** We are dog friendly as long as you have a friendly dog.
