Quartz
Quartz
A very nice quartz crystal cluster from I Me Mine, near Jessieville, Arkansas. This cluster features a dramatic assemblage of crystals of various sizes that have formed over a piece of the Blakely sandstone - the Blakely is the geological formation our quartz is hosted in (i.e. the host rock). What's especially interesting about his piece in particular is that the sandstone even has crystals on the bottom of the specimen, indicating that the sandstone was fully submerged in the silica-bearing solution that formed the quartz... so it must have been free-floating in the pocket. We call this kind of specimen a "floater", for obvious reasons. This one has a lot going on: prismatic crystals, gem crystals, tabby crystals, milky crystals, micro crystals, large crystals, fadens, bent crystals, complex recrystallization, and even a few small, included crystals (did I miss any?) It is free of any major damage that would detract and is quite aesthetic to boot! Custom mounting is available at checkout.
