Quartz var. Japan-Law Twin
Quartz var. Japan-Law Twin
A beautiful Japan-law twin quartz cluster from the Collier Creek Mine, near Mt. Ida, in Montgomery Co., Arkansas. This specimen features a multitude of thin, elongated, prismatic quartz crystals that have formed together in this arrangement. Set perfectly in the middle is a tabular Japan-law twin crystal in the shape of a checkmark. The crystals have an interesting luster that alternates from highly vitreous to matte (but shiny?). The underside is also completely recrystallized and appears to have formed around a rhombohedral crystal of some kind (maybe calcite or adularia), which has since dissolved, leaving a cast of quartz in its shape. The specimen is in good condition with no significant damage to report. Custom mounting is available at checkout.
