Quartz var. Japan-Law Twin
Quartz var. Japan-Law Twin
An interesting Japan-law twin quartz crystal from the Collier Creek Mine, near Mt. Ida, in Montgomery Co., Arkansas. This is an unusual twin, where one of the crystals is elongated and the other is short and stubby. The larger of the two is double terminated and terminates past the point of twinning. It appears that both the bottom termination of the larger crystal and the termination of the smaller crystal sheared off in the pocket while the mineralizing solution was still present, causing complex recrystallization that resulted in alluring geometry. The piece is fully crystallized all the way around with no damage worth mentioning. Custom mounting is available at checkout.
