Quartz var. Japan-Law Twin with Inclusions
Quartz var. Japan-Law Twin with Inclusions
A very cool Japan-law twin quartz crystal with a phantom from the Ocus Stanley Mine, on Fisher Mountain, near Mt. Ida, in Montgomery Co., Arkansas. This specimen was collected during Ocus's lifetime (presumably by Ocus himself), which would make it pre-2000 and could date back as far as the 50s. The piece features a main gem clear quartz crystal with a faint "ghost" phantom that's in a peculiar orientation - rather than being centered in the crystal, it is offset to the left-hand side. On the right-hand side, a small nub of twin crystal juts out and provides the evidence we need to prove Japan-law twinning - a re-entrant plane, striations running in opposite directions from one another, and edge lines matching up. A very cool twin out of Ocus Stanleys personal collection. The main crystal has very minor edgewear and the twin "nub" is contacted rather than terminated but the piece does show well and is in good condition regardless. Custom mounting is available at checkout.
