Quartz var. Japan-Law Twin with Inclusions
Quartz var. Japan-Law Twin with Inclusions
A rare Japan-law twin from Garland Co., Arkansas - I say rare for two reasons, location and the inclusions. Most twins from Arkansas come from the Collier Creek Mine or Fisher Mountain, both of which are in Montgomery county, near Mt. Ida - twins from Garland county, near I Me Mine, Ron Coleman, McEarl, etc, are much more uncommon. This one was collected decades ago according to my source and it hosts rare black inclusions (presumably carbon or manganese). The inclusions themselves are not rare in Arkansas quartz but I have never seen another Japan-law twin from Arkansas with the inclusions. The inclusions do create a Japan twin phantom within the interior of the actual twin! The piece has good luster and nice clarity. It does have some damage unfortunately - both terminations of the twin are a bit chewed up and the small accentuating crystal has some damage as well. A rare and interesting twin, nonetheless. Custom mounting is available at checkout.
