A very nice kidwellite with beraunite from the Three Oaks Gap Mine, in Polk Co., Arkansas. This specimen was collected by Al Kidwell, who first discovered the species in Montgomery County in the 1970s. Kidwellite is a very rare phosphate found in the novaculite deposits of the Quachita Mountains in Arkansas, as well as numerous other localities across the world. This specimen features a generous coverage of green kidwellite with dark burgundy beraunite that has formed over a bit of matrix. The kidwellite shows varying shades of green, while the beraunite is unusually well crystallized for the species. The specimen hails from the collection of Mike Groben, who acquired the piece in 1984 via a trade with A.L. Kidwell. It is in fine condition with no significant damage worth reporting, and comes with a custom acrylic base, milled and engraved in house by our master carver, Jacob.
