Quartz
Quartz
A very interesting quartz cluster from I Me Mine, near Jessieville, in Garland Co., Arkansas. This specimen features a prominent focal crystal that juts up right in the center of a cluster of smaller crystals. The main crystal has some interesting features - namely a "tip slip", or a broken and recrystallized termination. We see this fairly often at I Me Mine, where the termination has sheared off in the pocket at an oblique angle and reattached itself to the crystal, often offset from the original orientation. This is one of the more dramatic examples I've seen so far. The termination has moved significantly from its original position and is recrystallized extremely well. The cluster developed as a floater in the pocket, meaning it is crystallized all the way around. There are some small missing crystals along the edges of the piece, either broken or separated at the contact, and the termination has a small crystal attached that has a broken end - but beyond this there is no other damage to report. Custom mounting is available at checkout.
