A nice "glassback" quartz cluster from I Me Mine, near Jessieville, in Garland Co., Arkansas. Glassback is a local term used to refer to a thin cluster like this one, where one side is well crystallized and the bottom is recrystallized, or "rehealed". This specimen is a superb example of this phenomenon which happens when a wall plate separates from the pocket wall while there is still mineralizing solution present to recrystallize where it split. This piece features one prominent crystal up from and center, attached to a thin cluster of smaller crystals of varying sizes and shapes. The crystals have good luster, and some are extremely clear. The specimen developed as a floater, meaning it is crystallized all the way around, with no point of attachment. It is in good condition, having no significant damage to report.
