An outstanding quartz crystal from I Me Mine, near Jessieville, in Garland Co., Arkansas. This large, elongated crystal has superb luster and a good clear zone at the tip. It exhibits parallel growth at the termination - a phenomenon where two intergrown crystals share prism faces (this type of growth is governed by a twin law that I am aware of, but it sure seems like it should be studied further). The bottom of this piece is completely recrystallized - much like a glassback but I don't suppose we can call this glassback. It developed as a floater, which means it is completely crystallized all around, with no point of contact or attachment. The specimen is in fairly good condition overall, except for a thin chip off a prism face on the backside, as well as several contacts in that same area. It sits flat on its own, but our custom mounting is available for this one at checkout.
