Quartz
Quartz
A very interesting quartz cluster from I Me Mine, near Jessieville, Arkansas. This specimen features a multitude of crystals of various sizes - many of which are faden quartz crystals - have formed together in this aesthetic arrangement. The focal crystal is a 1.5-inch tabular faden with a very prominent faden line. Faden quartz are typically thin crystals - they formed in small fissures with little room for growth. They were twisted and stretched significantly during formation which causes a prominent white line to appear, usually running up the middle of the crystal - we call this a faden line. Fadens are one of my favorite quartz habits and matrix pieces aren't really common, particularly from Arkansas, and this is a dramatic example. The specimen is in good condition with no significant damage to report. Custom mounting is available at checkout.
