This is one of the largest and finest single quartz crystals the mine has produced to date. It has a light smoky hue that is obvious in person, whereas many of our smoky crystals really need to be put on white paper or compared to a known clear crystal. It is a large, somewhat slender crystal -measuring over 8 inches tall but only 2.5 across. It has mirror-bright luster on the front three faces, while the back three are a bit more matte luster and have "sugar" crystals (micro to small quartz crystal) overgrowing them. The crystal has two distinct transparent zones, one at termination and one near the middle - between are ghostly white to grey wisps, formed by stresses on the crystal during formation. The piece is in very condition overall - it has one contacted area on a front edge, as well as a contacted/chipped area on the backside but these are not major issues in my mind. It comes with a custom milled and engraved acrylic base, made in house by our master carver Jacob.
