A very nice kidwellite with purple strengite from the Coon Creek Mine, in Polk Co., Arkansas. This specimen was collected by Al Kidwell, who first discovered the species (kidwellite) in Montgomery County in the 1970s. Kidwellite is a very rare phosphate found in the novaculite deposits of the Ouachita Mountains in Arkansas, as well as numerous other localities across the world. This specimen has a rich coverage of olive green kidwellite over beraunite (and likely cacoxenite and/or rockbridgeite). Numerous small, purple strengite spheres have formed over the olive green kidwellite, providing striking contrast. Strengite is even less common in the Arkansas phosphate deposits and is most highly coveted by collectors for its beautiful purple color. This is a beautiful example of this rare material. It is complete and undamaged. Custom mounting is available at checkout.
