A beautiful polished blue wavellite cabochon from Mauldin Mountain, in Montgomery Co., Arkansas. This find is distinctive from other finds of blue wavellite I'm familiar with - whereas most is a late-stage growth over green wavellite spheres, this find is true blue to the core. This is an interesting cabochon of this material that I found at a local rock show in Hot Springs. It appears that the wavellite was capped with a clear epoxy of some sort which was then shaped and polished into a cabochon. The result creates a serene effect that looks like some kind of ocean scenery. Very cool collectors piece.
