Wavellite
Wavellite
A fine wavellite from Mauldin Mountain, in Montgomery Co., Arkansas. This specimen was collected in the 1990s and is a great example of the material - three prominent, and rather large, wavellite botryoids of a light grass green color have formed over a bit of host rock in a very aesthetic arrangement. Several other wavellite spheres can be seen and the bottom and on the backside of the specimen. There are two areas that have broken botryoids, but they actually add the piece in my opinion - they allow you to see the radial sprays of wavellite crystals that make up the spherical aggregates. This piece is from the collection of well-known Colorado collector Ray Berry and comes with his collection tag stating he acquired it February 5, 1993 (he also mistyped AR as AK for Arkansas!). Custom mounting is available at checkout.
